1st Philippine Librarians Summit
The Philippine Librarians Association, Inc.- National Capital Region Librarians Council (PLAI-NCRLC) in partnership with the University of Santo Tomas-Department of Library and Information Science will hold the 1st Philippine Librarians Summit: Addressing Issues and Concerns on 17-18 March 2016 at the Benavidez Auditorium, Benavidez Building, University of Santo Tomas, Espańa, Manila.
The 1st Philippine Librarians Summit aims to address the various issues and concerns faced by library and information professionals more than a decade after the implementation of Republic Act 9246 or the Act to Modernize the Practice of Librarianship in the Philippines. Specifically, the Summit has the following objectives:

To highlight and clarify the issues and concerns affecting librarians and the library profession in the country;

To invite representatives from government agencies and other entities to give their comments/response to the specific issues and concerns;

To encourage industry leaders and other stakeholders to discuss possible solutions and recommendations that would address the problems presented;

To come up with an Action Agenda for the library profession in the Philippines.
Participants to the summit are expected to gain an awareness of the real issues and concerns affecting the library profession. This Summit shall also provide the venue for increased dialogue, understanding, and consensus among the officers and members of various library associations and come up with recommendations for policy formulations and/or amendments to RA 9246 and an Action Agenda for the library profession.
